Lenten Meditation Practices

Prayer of the Heart: A Christian Contemplative Meditation and Prayer Practice
Wednesday, March 16, March 30, and April 13, 7pm, Sanctuary

You may attend one or all three contemplative meditation and prayer sessions to learn the ancient Christian practice known as Prayer of the Heart (also called “The Jesus Prayer” or Hesychasm). Instructions will be repeated, but each session will build successively to teach the complete practice. The early Christian Desert Mothers and Fathers developed this interior prayer practice for the purpose of achieving mystical divine union with God by opening the heart to the movement of the Holy Spirit. Each session will begin with a short teaching and instruction, followed by a meditation practice period, a short walking meditation period, and another meditation practice period. Everyone is welcome! Those who are new to contemplative prayer or meditation are especially invited to participate.
