Spiritual Formation

Rev. Erin E. King

Director of Spiritual Formation

Rev. Erin King is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. She brings many years’ experience as a teacher of children and youth. She was trained as an early childhood educator from Worcester State College and was a Director of Swanzey Co-operative Nursery School and Kindergarten in the 1980s. She later became Director of Christian Education at Goffstown Congregational Church, West Concord Union Church, North Attleboro Congregational Church, and West Tokyo Union Church in Tokyo, Japan. In her position as Director, she taught lay teachers how to teach Sunday School and lead junior high and high school youth; and developed curriculum for Sunday School and Confirmation programs.

As Director of Spiritual Formation at College Avenue UCC, Erin is passionate about the spiritual formation of our children and youth. She has three daughters and four grandchildren and so has experience with what it means to raise children and grandchildren in today’s world. She sees herself as a supportive resource for parents and grandparents, offering guidance re: spiritual questions about scripture, God and Jesus; how to pray; and what to do when teens have doubts and questions. This year, we will be using Seasons of the Spirit curriculum, a progressive, ecumenical and international curriculum. Along with this creative curriculum, children and youth will be sharing inspiring songs and music, and learn an age appropriate body of Christian knowledge so that they will be able to articulate what they believe.

Erin is also a Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) with the Association of Professional Chaplains. She worked as a chaplain at Community Hospice for 10 years and last year she started her business Izumi-Wellspring Center which provides resources for spiritual wellbeing.
